Unboxing, activation and brief commentary on my Apple iPhone. First time I ever saw one, figuring things out as I went. Filmed 7 p.m. on Launch Day June 29. A guinea pig looks on with detached bemusement and an air of superiority.
Trippy, kitschtastic clip from 1966 German SF TV show. On a rescue mission, Orion VII crew members board derelict space station MZ4 and are shocked to find ... Priceless kitsch. Order the DVD's on Amazon.de. Originally broadcast October 1966. I friggin' love this show, man.
Wake up, comrades! Brief clip from Soviet TV exercise show 7 a.m. February 1985 before Vremya morning news show. Glastnost-era Russian TV had all the production values of US cable access programming but is fascinating and entertaining in an historical context
Soviet cosmonauts on Venus are saved from lava by Robot John in scene from Planeta Bur (Planet of Storms), Soviet science fiction film in 1961 around time of Gagarin's first flight into space. As the robot dies, two lost teams of cosmonauts also are reunited. Awesome DVD is available from specialty DVD resellers, and sometimes on Amazon.com. Movie is a must-see for hard-core SF history buffs.
Giant house rabbit bonds with young guinea pig.
Pig in question in about four months old: weaned, but still missing "mommy."
Bunny in question is a Flemish Giant who was my best friend.
Example of how Soviet TV promoted Glastnost. Short clip is a promo teaser that ran in early a.m. promoting the evening broadcast of Vremya ("news") newscast. From February 1985. Any russian speakers able to tell me what Gorbachev is saying?
birth of guinea pigs in time-lapse video. Sweet mom pig has three big, active pups. Scene shows birth, babies' first steps and babies starting to explore while cutely hiding under mom.
Just kickin' it with Big Bunny, my Flemish Giant house rabbit. At 20 pounds, she was as big as a 3-year-old and one of the biggest bunnies in the Tristate. She died recently. I miss her deeply.
OK this is obscure by even my standards. To get this you have to be into 1960's chinese cinema and know some chinese. Here's a community-hear-swell ing scene from "February" (Zao Chun Er Yue) from 1963. Idealistic protagonist encounters young mother widowed by revolution. Storytelling method is just very, very communist Chinese.
Excellent video by a friend of mine captures grand finale of Cincy Riverfest fireworks on 9/2/07. The score is his, not the original by WEBN. Note how the music is synchronized with fireworks. Web streaming doesn't do the original video justice.
